Right, made some progress on my Mordheim tiles over the weekend. Put two together so far and probably have enough parts for two more before I have to start re-casting. Here’s the first in progress and the second completed:

Also made some progress on a Cadian command squad. Up to the ink wash stage on three Cadians. And have another four that I can get to ink wash pretty quickly.

Finished a Cadian Lieut this morning. New paint scheme is working reasonably well. Assembled most of the plastic Cadian new command squad as well. A lot of work to do to get to 2200 points of IG but making slow progress.

Superb! No less than 2 days after I gave Griff a couple of sheets of 3mm MDF Emily has sliced and diced them up into 1′ squares using the framing machine at her place of work! Fantastic! So now I have 16 1′ MDF tiles sitting in my garage. There’s a long weekend coming up but alas I’ll probably be working the Friday because of looming project deadlines. No matter, hopefully by the end of Feb I can have 4 tiles put together and painted. I confess I’m a little concerned about warping the tiles after gluing a lot of heavy plaster down onto them. I think the solution to that is priming the MDF before using it. On a bit of an IG Cadian painting spree at the moment for some reason. Really enjoying painting up a new Command Section for the IG.

Got bored with Mordheim terrain again and waiting for Em to get a chance to cut me some tiles. Back to painting IG 40k Cadian troopers for now. Turns out the cheaper inks I purchased from the French Art Shop in Ponsonby aren’t too bad. Like Windsor and Newton they need to be seriously cut with Clear floor wax to avoid pooling and overpainting problems but they’re still workable and about 60% cheaper by volume than W&N inks.

Played Orcs and Goblins against Griff’s new Beastmen in the weekend. Won by moral victory due to a failed rout test on the Beastmen’s behalf – despite the fact I only had two Orcs left. Beastmen are not a bad warband at all. Quite Orc-like due to their higher Toughness and normal Strength. Learned a couple of things. First, you need blackpowder or crossbows to defeat them more easily. Second, always play the Attacker in Breakthrough if you can. Defender is just too easy to get past with pretty much any warband except maybe dwarves :). Still quite nicely painted figures there Mr Griff.
