Dustan from the PitYak forums has pointed out that NuPlex in Auckland supply clear casting encapsulating resin of several types. They sell to the public and I’ve rung and emailed them to get some prices. If they fail to respond I may just take my young son for a little drive on Friday morning!

Played a 1200pt game of Flames of War against Aaron last night. We both had air support (his was limited, mine was sporadic) and due to poor rolling on both our parts, all the air support that arrived did the most damage to the home side!

Aaron’s yanks suffered the loss of one Sherman and several Infantry teams to friendly fire and the lone RAF plane that arrived in the closing stages of the battle ‘successfully’ destroyed two Stuart ‘Honey’ light tanks with a well placed bomb. The irony is that anti-aircraft fire isn’t permitted against your own planes of course…

In conclusion I don’t think I shall bother wasting any more points on air support in the future! The rules make it simply too random to be of any real use.

Regardless of one’s thoughts about the situation in Iraq one can’t help feel that this gentleman certainly earned his Victoria Cross.

Kerr and King do some lovely 15mm pre-molded bases and terrain. Definitely worth checking out!

Urban Warfare seem to have opened up a couple of months ago in Newmarket, Auckland. First I’ve heard of them, but they seem pretty keen!

Dog Green

This map is one of several in a ‘mod’ for the PC Close Combat game. However they’re also excellent inspiration for FOW 15mm game tables! The web site also contains interesting historic information about each map in the series. Definitely worth checking out! Doubly so if you play Close Combat.

15mm Sandbags master I don’t seem to have accomplished much with my FOW forces this week- although I did get a game of WHFB in and spent some time with my lovely wife! One little experiment that is progressing is 15mm sandbag terrain. Here’s the simple green stuff master I created earlier in the week.

15mm Sandbags cast The sandbags are lightly textured using crosshatched finger prints – possibly the only time I’ve found fingerprints useful while sculpting with green stuff. At this point I intend to use them simply as ‘dug-in’ markers although I can see they could be used as part of a larger master for entrenchments and general 15mm terrain. I’ve cast some in Easycast two part resin from TopMark. The next step is to try painting a few up and see how they look!

They paint up very nicely…but I’ve just realised they’re just a little too small for the figures. I believe I’ll re-sculpt them this week with some additional detail in the form of empty ammo boxes etc. and 4-5mm of earth embankment.

A lovely 1/35th skeleton sculpt. This sculptor is obviously a professional. In fact you can buy the skeleton online here.

Here’s another of their step-by-step series. A flintlock and some pistols which looks slightly more repeatable than the skeleton!
