Taking good digital photos of 28mm and 15mm miniatures is difficult at best.

www.twfigurines.de is a German site with superb miniature photography. Fortunately the author also includes a small tutorial that describes how he gets these lovely clear photos.

The only thing I’d add is consider investing in a couple of blue ‘daylight’ bulbs for your lamps, because then you won’t have to mess with the white balance settings on your digital camera.

  1. Speaking of minature photography, have you seen this crazy tilt-shift photography stuff that makes real scenes look exactly like miniatures? Amazing stuff.

  2. Heh, yeah I did see that…I almost considered making it a post but decided it was a little too off topic really (hmmm this is despite some upcoming off topic posts)!

I think the artist on that site gets mixed results really. Some of the images are *really* effective…and some of them just look like bad, blurry photos…imho of course.
