Heh. Well, considering any 1:48th I delve into will be stricky for Pulp gaming I probably fall into the later category by default. Not to mention the setting we're playing in is deliberately vague...it's around Egypt/North Africa, but is it inter-war before 1945? Or sometime during WWII?

I have to field mid-late war German tanks prior to WWII I can always get away with the 'mad scientist/early prototype' argument :). Now doesn't that make the historic gamer in you cringe!

"Any pointers/tips/suggestions for a rank newbie?"

Either;

Decide to be the most anal tank modeller out there, and research every possible angle view of the real thing, plus all it's possible variants, so that all your headlamp covers are correct to a thousandth of an inch,

or

Decide on a level of realism that suits you, and work to that. Then if anyone criticises your model, hit them with it.

Ahh, very crafty deflection of Jonathan's point with the Pulp Gaming shield! If/when I get around to picking up any of the 1:48th for my Pulp Gaming needs I think I'm going to try to be happy with getting them assembled and painted. It's maybe not the best thing to admit but I think I'm finally coming to terms with the fact that my best modeling efforts will never land me on the cover of White Dwarf, Military Modeler, etc. and that's okay Of course, my wife is waiting for me to realize I'm never going to have the time to play the many games I collect figures for and then stop buying. :)
