I’ve been reading both the Wargame Research Group DBA and DBM rule sets as I try and find a local (well, Australian) supplier for Corvus Belli 15mm Ancients. I have to say the rules are not easy going as they’re written in a particularly terse English, with only a few examples – at least the slightly older versions I have are.
Fortunately the Washington Area DBA Gamers Club have a very easy to read DBA Guide available as a PDF download. It’s well formatted, easy to read and packed with lots of clear examples.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re considering trying DBA or it’s larger cousin DBM.

Doesn’t Urban Warfare have a shelf of that ancienty/napolionicy stuff?
They have some historics, including the WRG publications, Essex 15mm metals and Italeri 1/72 plastics which isn’t a bad start. I like the look of the Corvus Belli figures more, but should eyeball the Essex ancients in UW at some point.
They don’t have essex wwii germans, even though their trademe ad says they do, and you don’t find that out until after you’ve bid!!!
before I wade through that pdf, is it enough to play the game, or would i need the rules themselves too?
It’s enough to play the game I believe, EXCEPT it’s lacking the official DBA army lists that appear in the back of the full rulebook.
Got my DBA bases cut and have prepped the Carthaginians for basing and am half way through doing the slightly historically inaccurate Romans too.
