Jonathan's Facade Terrain WIP As I mentioned in an earlier post, I handed Jonathan the first cast out of the 1930′s 15mm facade mold. Despite the fact it was a throw away piece, it’s nice to see he’s already well on the way to creating a ruined building for his Flames of War Germans.

Now I think about it I guess it’s fair he gets the first cast to play with since it was a forum conversation with him back in June last year that started the ball rolling on the building facade!

I’m looking forward to seeing his piece finished and painted. Of course I’ve started making my own facade terrain piece as well, although I’m shooting for an intact building complete with glass windows, a shop awning and a solid front door. I might have to do some research to come up with appropriate European signs as well.

Hopefully between the two of us we can create some nice demo pieces for the facade.

  1. Ooh pretty.

  2. Yeah I thought so too. The fact he broke his cast and glued it back together adds to the whole effect as well…looks like the whole structure is about to come tumbling down on the hapless Jerry HMG team…

  3. Its looking really good, Gluing it back together really does add a unique realisim. Cant wait to have an urban game of FoW. All the cover will make for a more interesting infantry game.

  4. True, plus FOW 2nd Edition has rules for street fightin’ as well. I really need to master a side wall and at least one other facade type. Then we can standardise the way we’re going to base the ruins and I can hand a few out, and instant Stalingrad!

  5. Your building facade looks awesome! If I did any 15mm gaming, I’d definitely order a few from you. Maybe one day when I get into that scale.

Also, here’s a neat tutorial on making some quick and dirty moulds. Nowhere near as good looking as yours, but a technique that could be used to get a bunch of buildings fast:
