1  Garage Gamers / Gaming Nights - Auckland / May 22nd - Stuart's Garage on: Today at 04:26:35 PM
MFZ. I've reassembled everything and am trying to lure Callum into joining us.

Callum?! This Wednesday night? My garage? 7:30-8ish?

Trying to lure big Callum into a game at my place next week. I think he's tempted...! Even talked about building some stuff...

And the game is carefully crafted, so that WHO you should gang up on is fairly dynamic over the course of a game...

You guys need to buy some more Lego! Maybe I should make a parts list. Those basic gray 'conscript' frames are pretty easy to make. You just need a LOT of 'minifig cups' and 'modified 1x1 tiles with hooks'.

Those gray frames are me just being lazy: 'I need another group so we can play 3-player but I can't be f_cked customising these too much as I've run out of guns and ideas'. So they're generic and brittle yes. Each of them is missing a system after all. Three of them could have an extra (artillery) system and still go first...

Yeah Callum would fall in love with this game I reckon. Dammit. We'll have to break into his garage one night and set up a game Smiley.

He seriously also has massive amounts of Lego. If anybody in this group can build an entire MFZ scale city in Lego in this group, it's Callum. I am insanely jealous of his Lego collection in fact, which hints at the scale involved...

I think Jonathan could have won. He looked like he was going to storm my position. He had the numbers and the placing but seemed to get distracted. I was fully expecting the dark Frame to be shelling me the whole game while the rest of his forces rolled over me...

Yeah and he won it through Machiavellian manipulation of our feeble intellects. GODDAMN I should have shot blue frame in the back while you were distracted with the Chubs. Why didn't I! What the hell was I thinking! I could have won if Blue was a bit more worn down...and then he turned on me anyway...

We desperately need to convince big Callum to play the system. That man has so much Lego in his garage he could build us all a set of Frames each Smiley

It is a deceptive wee game isn't it? People were raving about it on the various MFZ forums but with the minimal ruleset and one scenario (which is basically a 'meeting engagement' type affair) I did wonder if it was any good. Sure it gave me an excuse to play with Legos, but the rules initially seemed quite...light...

Having played it a few times it's interesting to see how much you can do with so little. Sort of makes me wonder (again) why I struggled to play 40k or WHFB with their phonebook rules and thousands of figures to paint and assemble...

You want to know the scary thing? MFZ comes from an earlier game called Mechaton which was originally designed by somebody in their teens (I think).

I remember the BC2 'armored kill' levels with fondness. Long rolling hills, a bunch of tanks and APCs and helis at each end. I'm hoping AK for BF3 is something equivalent. I bought EndGame just cause the bikes looked fun.

Bought Armored Kill and EndGame...600msp each. Hope they're good Jonathan?

Is there an ETA on the conversions? Months? Years?
