I'd almost recommend waiting a bit for the new plastics to come out... their whole range is being converted...that means there may be some good sales on =D

Got the flowers this morning... if any of you have seen their grass clumps then think that but green with flecks of yellow or white... of course I intend to use the white ones with ink and die the colours.

for $10 you actually get quite a lot I will post pics later and might even have a model ready to apply it on

That's how I started this whole thing but since then it has lead me out of the house... I would be doing kinect every morning it if it wasn't for the cheap access to the local pools for the rest of this month. But as its warming up in the mornings there is just as much chance I will want to go out for a bike ride or a jog...

The best kinect game to go for is Ubi Softs 'Your Shape' series. The first one is good but a little basic, the 2012 edition offers a crap ton more and is particularly awesome if you have dumb bells. Its got good variety, a persistent online community unlike EA's bullshit. Speaking of EA's bull shit that game just frustrated me... the workouts wernt intense enough, the game kept pausing and required a controller to get shit going again.

Most other kinect fitness games are gimicky or themed of a particular idea (Zumba etc). I noticed a lot of improvement each week when I was playiong 60 to 80 minutes of Your Shape a day, strength, cardio and general well being.

Yeah the events are kinda neat cause it gives you goals to train for and times to beat for next time. Also sometimes you get nifty grab bags.

I am finding out that getting fit can be expensive, especially when you don't have any gear =D

Yeah not bad aye... I'm looking at other events out there to get into and at pressent the toughest thing going looks to be the Iron Man... I am considering it but I got a lot of training to do before then =D

For now there are a bunch of tri- and du- athlons that I can have fun with...

If this forum ended up as a facebook group it wouldnt be all bad. it would be the end of an era though

Sorry Guys, the excercise bug holds me firmly in its grasp.. All my usual OC patterns have been directed at fitness.
Since April 1
Lost 23kg (now at 97kg with more toned and defined muscle than ever)
Biked 46km from motu rd to Pakihi road, leaving the gisborne district in the process
Ran the 10th anual tough guy and gal 12km challenge and didn't place last XD
Swam 45.8km over 15 days for the Swim the Distance challenge at the local pools (time to swim back for fun now)
and I can Dead Lift 120kg and lift 140kg off the ground.

Oh and I quit smoking about 100 days ago, give or take a week.

thats not realy mentioning the obscene amounts of training I do to achieve these goals... I am trying to divide my OC behaviour but sadly between everything and enjoying my job there isn't a lot of time for internet.

I've been painting some Malifaux figures lately =D
9  Garage Gamers / Game Systems / Re: Lulz. Warhammer 40k 6th Edition Pre-order! on: July 06, 2012, 06:48:31 AM
Yeah its a big book, bout the same size as fantasy 8th =] Stu, I'm not raging =] You just don't know how hard it is to motivate Mr.Phreak out of his bubble! Its tough Love =]

I am ever so tempted but I have to many models as is (no protests! yes I do!) and certainly not enough money.

Although I do know an impoverished IG and CSM player who likely needs more models. This doesn't cover the nids but i am going to plug my ears (eyes?) and make lots of noise cause the last thing i need is another horde army.

I could sell you an ork army though =]

We tried Malifaux, but never got scenery to play with.

Thats a load of bull puck, We (being all the other Gisborne gamers) tried Malifaux and had a pretty good run at it, there is more than enough terrain in a perfectly playable state... ultimately most of the players play GW games so we ended up doing more of that. If I remember correctly I don't think you have played a game of Malifaux yet on account of never gluing a model to a base to come and have a game =] or are you still waiting for base inserts or, specialty superglue on 1 micron brushes?

You know gaming nights a mondays from 7:30, turn up with a crew =]

From what I have heard of the new 40k its basically making all the good things about 8th ed fantasy got into 6th ed 40k and thats a realy smart move on GW's part... There game system(s) are really getting well sorted now, they are actually getting more enjoyable to play despite the new sales pitch of "Big Kits" armies where buy working armies with good existing models get gimped to ensure you buy the correct $100 kits to un gimp them. Not to mention that on day one all the codex's for 40K got new Errata and FAQ's to make make them immediately usable.

11  Garage Gamers / Off Topic / Re: PROMETHEUS on: June 12, 2012, 04:36:18 AM
I have a 3d TV and I think Prometheus was totally worth seeing in 3d cause they did it right. Its a perfect example of it being in 3d without trying to flap its arms at you and say LOOK I'M IN 3D!!!

Its only a gimmick when every second shot is dust motes and bloom and volumetric lighting and waving shit in your face.

Oh and as for the movie it was very good yeah they kinda left holes in the story but meh it was neat and i would see it again.

FTR I love my 3dTV and wish I had more money to buy 3d Movies and media for it

14  Garage Gamers / Electronic Gaming / Re: Battlefield 3 is Dead to me.... on: May 29, 2012, 04:31:02 AM
Pfft GRFW is a passing fad... it'll never last
15  Garage Gamers / Electronic Gaming / Re: Skyrim = pleasant surprise on: May 29, 2012, 04:30:25 AM
Storm ones are Jawsome vs magic users cause lightning drains magika. Fires good on anything cause burning hurts and ice is good against combat monsters cause it drains stamina and slows them right down. You gotta know which Atronauch you need in each situation Wink

Unless you have summon Deadra warrior =]
