Questions:

- Daniel-san would you object to me scanning the rules and army lists from your rulebook so everybody can cast their eyes over the system prior to purchase? I'll do it carefully, but this may result in stressing your rulebook obviously so feel free to say NO FUCK OFF and I'll ask nicely if Aaron and Jonathan can have a look at the rules after me.

- As there's been a bit of wavering, who's interested in what force again? There are 4 main forces (5 if you include Antarica but they're not in the uber box):

- Americans
- British
- Japanese
- Prussians

Speak now or forever hold your peace. I'll just take whatever is left over because honestly I'm not fussed. My LEAST favourite would probably be the American paddle steamers, but I could live with them too I guess.

- Are we still interested in pooling monies and just buying that big fuck off 'all in one' box? Aaron suggested it didn't look like that great of a deal? To be honest I was just attracted to it because it seemed massively painless. BOOM everything in one box. I'm happy to do that or just go our separate ways and just organising our individual purchases. $60 will get you a boxed starter from Maelstrom after all. That's fucking painless. I'm tempted just to buy just that and play with Daniel-san's rules myself (but you know me, tight fisted cunt that I am).

Comments:

- Skim reading the rules last night and the game does look interesting. There are a lot of options regarding LOS and what guns can be bought to bear etc. (for example the centreline of your larger vessels seems quite important). However at the same time the examples are pretty nicely laid out. I can see a lot of fun could be had with screening actions, carrier bombing runs etc. etc. Fantasy Gothic Steampunk World War Naval engagement stuff basically. Any game where you can have 'submerging' craft on sea OR land gets my vote. Hiding your aerial vessels in the clouds sounds like fun too. I could also see fun could be had with mixed engagements, like an island invasion supported by naval action offshore.

- There are typos in the rulebook! They need a proof-reader.

- There do appear to be torrents for this stuff, but I can't get at them at work obviously. Will see what I can dig up tonight, or if Daniel's happy I can scan his rules myself.

- Any game where I can lay down a blue glossy tablecloth and call it 'the world' fucking rocks. Hell you could just lay down paper and draw yourself a goddamn island chain to play on.

Also Jonathan, it's not just the Prussians that have a robot. The US have them too, as do the Japanese (a giant robot squid in fact).

So can I please have the Russians? Please? I've changed my mind. I want them now cause I like their classical looking battleships :/

Actually if you're dead keen on the Prussians I could also go the Antarctica guys, but that would preclude buying the uber boxed set.

GOD TOO MANY CHOICES

My force preference is in THIS order:

Prussian
Japanese
Britannia
America

The Prussian's are the nicest looking force, and the submerged robot just looks freaking cool.

I could settle for the Japs, as they have the squid, though not as cool as the Prussian robot.

The yanks are f***ing gay.

If I HAD to, I would settle for the British, but would just get the standard Battlefleet.

The other thing to think about with the mega box thing, is that it's free shipping....

Maelstromgames.co.uk ship for FREE worldwide if your order exceeds 10 GBP which it will so we can discount that. Are we leaning towards separate orders? I think we are right? If we do we can avoid the issue with having to pick a less favoured force and we can all just get one each.

If so I could go Antartica guys or the Brits so you can have the Prussians. Although you know the giant robot doesn't come in the basic box right?! I'm with you, the American ships just don't sex me up that much.

Aaron what are your preferences?

Yeah, I know the robots are extra, but I've done a deal with Aaron so I'm not having to lay out that much cash!

Sorry work is getting in the way of ordering toys!   Angry

The cards are not necessary to play the game but they add extra spice... we dont need spice at the moment the rules look confusing enough.

Also the saving appears to be only about $20 which isn't really worth someone having to take a less preferred option... But then are we all going to end up being Prussian?

I vote seperate orders in the hope we can "share" a rulebook but we should try and come up with a gentlemans agreement on forces.

I still quite like the idea of the Paddle Steamers of Doom but if every body is going to keep going on about how gay they look I'm going to pack a sad and not play...   Sad

You will let us confirm our orders before letting that finger loose won't you....  and you probably should wait to hear back from Dan as to weather you need to buy a rule book....

They certainly wouldn't look gay if you placed them on the table, only if Stu or I did....

Waiting is NOT my strong suit.

Also I don't think the paddle steamers are 'gay' per se, they're still very nice models they just don't grab me as much as some of the others. Jonathan is just insecure or something Wink.

We definitely need a gentleman's agreement. So we have what?

Jonathan = Russian?
Daniel? Didn't he say he had a British ship? He'll order more on the drop of a hat shirely.
Aaron = US? Go for it if you want I say.
Stuart = Antarctica! Their land forces are all walkers! And their naval forces have some crazy powers!

Yeah I'm totally going Antarica, cause their ships look nice and their aircraft are wierdo 'heli-disc' things.

Right, if we're all agreed, my order is:

1x PRUSSIAN EMPIRE NAVAL BATTLE GROUP:  DWPE01
£29.25

1x PRUSSIAN EMPIRE METZGER CLASS ROBOTS (WATERLINED): DWPE13
£9.00

TOTAL
£38.25
x2
=
NZ$76

I've made a deal with Aaron so he'll be paying $50 leaving me with $26 to pay Stu (depending on actual exchange rates I guess)

If that sounds about right, go ahead and order!

Are we still funneling this through Stu?

I thought we'd just place our own orders? (or do you need to keep this covert...).

Or are we all going to head around to Stu's place on the day it arrives like Nerd Christmas?
