I suspect 2 days isn't enough time to get prepared.

A declaration of Dystopian wars it is!

The saturday game worked really well and everyone seemed to have fun.

We had a bit of a miscommunication but as it turned out Stu's late decision to join us really made the day much better as I was partially distracted trying to get a friends PS3 sorted.

We had the soviet tanks led by Stu & little Callum playing against me and big Callum with US armoured infantry in a 1500pt game.
Soviets comfortably won claiming an objective uncontested while the US was still trying to clear their objective.

It was interesting that the game seemed to play out more quickly and everyone seemed to stay better focused on the game right to the end rather than evening games.

Also the Soviet tank army is a horrifying thing. You do just have to wield them like an iron fist. I couldn't believe how well those stupid little T70 tractors did. I don't think I lost even one of them...

Yeah the t-70's definitely where the star performer... oh and your dice rolling familiar... Grin

Also you must have been inspired by the spirit of Stalin because apart from the tank hunters everything was lined up perfectly against the US troops.  It the Su-85's had been depoloyed opposite the shermans (or immediately redeployed) I think you would have stalled that flank quite comfortably and the victory would have been absolute.

5 shermans will easily outclass 5 t-34's even when moving across open terrain so I was confident we could get through and round onto the objective which almost worked.  If the su-85's had been backing up the t-34's on that flank the shermans wouldn't have stood a chance.

It was interesting facing off against the soviet tanks as the psychological impact of soo many medium tanks is quite intimidating.

Yeah I screwed up with the tank hunters. They should have been MID table if anywhere because then they could have propped up either flank. And yes my dice rolling familiar is quite handy Smiley.

Also regarding Pulp yeah. Two days is a bit short notice. Two weeks I might have some idea of a first scenario. I have some amusing thoughts already and even painted up a few Pulp figures to try dipping - only to discover my brown dip mix has dried into a solid lump...

No gaming for me tonight - it's going to be a struggle just to get through work today.

Yes I'm in!

I'll bring DW along and we can go from there.

I've stuck together my first Necron... damn that was time consuming.  a single basic trooper has 9 parts!!! (10 if you count the base)
Base-legs-front torso-back torso-head-right arm/gun-left arm-gun front-gun barrel-green rod

Still hopefully the time it takes to glue them together will be made up in the painting.  I'm trying to decide if I'm going to embrace the bright green rods or paint them.

I'm also trying to work out a way to buy them online as they are so much cheaper!

Daniel; did you mention a webstore that ships to NZ?

Nine parts? Oh yeah I remember those things being fiddly. The gun in particular was bloody annoying as I recall.

Hey you could bring a 40k Kill Team and we could try to remember how the hell 40k works Smiley.

Haw haw although apparently Kill team was 4th edition (that's the last rulebook I saw and I have a copy of) and now there's 40k 5th edition? And 6th edition is coming NEXT year?

What the fuck? Fucking Games Workshop! You sure you want to play this system again Aaron Smiley

Have you heard of this ruleset btw Aaron?

http://thegamesshed.wordpress.com/2011/07/02/in-the-emperors-name/

It's a free rule system designed to be used with GW 40k figures...

Hmmm interesting. That Emperor's rule set is Skirmish = 10 figures a side in a retinue. It's not proper skirmish though since the play order is still IGO UGO but in phases. That's sort of retarded. Might have to fix that, and maybe try it out with Callum. He'd be into it I reckon as it's fairly simple (main rules are umm 3 pages)?
