Ok! 30th of May it is!

Good lord more Flames of War I reckon! Let me have a crack at the Ruskis maybe? Or should we dice for it again just to keep everybody honest Smiley. It is quite nice not knowing who you'll be fighting, really makes you consider army composition quite a bit!

Well lets keep going with FoW if we can.

I like the not knowing who you are going to fight aspect of it and will help us all work towards a generally balanced army list but we do need to have exclusions.  E.g. Dustan and I dont play again next time  (unless he decides to buy and paint a new army by next games night!      )

Anyway to the best of my knowledge Im available for next time.

well I might buy enough to change the type of army... though I am at ends about that and buying a new one =]

I did find out that I have a rule that allows me to take 1165 points in a 1500 point game and it makes my troops trained fearless (Gvardeyskiy)
some units get 15 points cheaper for every 50 points you spend on them =]

I do have to make some changes and purchases though =\

Holy crap, Trained Fearless isn't a bad mixture imho. Although 1165 pts vs 1500 might be...

Good lord Chris! That Lessons from the Front is a bit of an eye opener!

Seems I've been playing quite a few rules incorrectly and possibly short changing myself quite badly along the way!

Oh yes indeedy!

Why just yesterday I painted up my HQ team and finished my arty Staff team.

Just got three Rifle teams and three Shermans to paint.

Plus of course as many transports as I can stand.

My objective is to have an entirely painted force by the NEXT gaming evening...

Ah good stuff! damn you must be close now!

I managed to base up my newly arrived HMG team (another poor experience of battflefield customer service... turns out mailorder was neither the quick nor easy alternative and should be avoided at all costs!) but most of my modelling time was spent painting up one of Kims (aka Kreative Scenery) cottages.  I must say its come up pretty darn good and it didn't actually take very long once I finally got started.  I did have all kinds of trouble glueing down the rubble so I may need to get some tips on how best to do that but overall for the price its an excellent addition to the gaming table.  Now I've just got to paint the the non-ruined house and see what bits I've got left.  Fortunately as they are going to form a village I can paint the next one exactly the same so it will be even quicker to finish!

Yes in my experience too Flames of War's online store should be avoided at all cost. That's why I'm hoping I can get Vagabond to order me a Panzer Recovery half track...

Yes so close it's ridiculous. I plan to paint the three Infantry bases this week. Might even get one squared away tonight...

Regarding rubble I'd recommend the 'watered down PVA' mix. Where you just cut PVA 50/50 with water and throw your rubble into the mix. Then 'paint' it on with a large brush you don't really care about destroying...

You've had good experiences with them?

Hmmm, 33% is not a very good customer satisfaction ratio!

Well I guess I should be fair and say it did only take 2 weeks to arrive so thats not terrible I was just expecting it to be a couple of days seeing as we are in the same town.  The first delay was caused by them not having the US tokens in stock, it took 5 days to tell me that.  I suggested a change from tokens to a Kv-1s and heard nothing for another 5 days at which point I was going into the city so could visit vagabond myself.  So i sent an email saying send it or cancel it! what do you know within 1hr Sam came back to me and said, yep sorry its in the post today (still took 3 days to arrive so riddle me that) and it posted with the wrong tank (Kv-1e) now to most people the difference between a 1e and 1s is neither here nor there but to a wargamer and a company specialising in WW2 its a significant mistake.

My guess is that the Kv-1s was also out of stock and they were waiting for it and when I sent the ulitimatum they just went with what they had... all in all a C-, they pass but definately could do better.  In future I'll definately splash out on the $5 parking, $5 for gas and 5 minutes it takes to select the figures from Vagabonds racks...

Still on the bright side not a single miscast or missing figure in my batch of 2 tanks & 2 infantry platoons.

Im not really bashing Battlefront here, I am delighted that a kiwi wargames company is proving so succesful it just looks like its high time Sam got a helper.  All you have to do is browse the forum to see the many people how have "issues" with the length of time it takes B.front to respond.

I work in town now and it's a 10 minute walk to Vagabond for me.

I'd be happy to pick up blisters for anybody if they need them cause I always like buying figures, even if it's by proxy Smiley.

Ditto here too. I spend most of my days in town and am happy to pick up orders from Vagabond for folks.

Hmmm so by my reckoning we have

Me, Aaron, Nate, Chris so far. That's two games for sure, randomly determined naturally.

Dustan are you coming mate?

Jonathan, how are your Germans doing? Feel like fielding them? I personally have no objections whatsoever to blank bases with Sharpied on platoon indicators...in fact I can supply the Sharpie Smiley.

If Jonathan's gaming then we can have three games, if you're not quite ready yet (and that's quite understandable) AND Dustan is keen we might have to try and press gang Daniel into a game! Then we can have THREE games of FOW tomorrow night.

Daniel? Keen at all?
