Yeah they're just harder to play than the Covenant I think. The CoA are a generally good force (although don't get into boarding actions with them), whereas the Blazing Suns seem more specialised, like you have to play to reduce your enemy's AP and try for the board. They're reasonably fast, harder to critical and generally have good AP on them, but the weapons load out seems weird. They have a mix of long range and close in weaponry and seem to suck in range bands 2-3 which is somewhat unfortunate since most of our engagements seem to happen at those ranges...
Hopefully the new stuff (which hasn't shipped yet dammit) will make things more interesting. The squiddie looks amusing, although once again it seems to be focused on boarding actions but does look like it could be a pretty hard hitter if it gets into RB1 (plus the model is really cool looking). It also occurred to me that the blister contains two models (submerged and surfaced) so I could field two squids robot things if I really wanted to try that out but as you point out they're not cheap. Still with one on the table hopefully it'll draw enough fire to keep the other stuff alive a bit longer
