Yeah the dreadnoughts are awesome.  I believe Jonathan has one on order but I haven't got one.  The french one is actually quite ugly IMO.

We're still on for tonight? I'm good. Spent 555 points. Not entirely sure I've stuck to the Large, Medium, Small requirements but I think I have...? I've got:

180 : 1 x Battleship (Large Capital)
180 : 3 x Cruiser (Medium Capital)
120 : 2 x Bomber (Medium Capital)
 75 : 3 x Frigate (Small)
---
555 points

Medium are allowed to be up to 70% of force value? Is that right?

Eh? What's that? 30% off what! To Maelstrom to compare prices.

Well, the Japanese suffered a bit of a mediocre outing last night, mainly due to me not knowing how the devil they work. Also my first force with rockets (which frankly, I can't see the worth of at this point). Some interesting things happened, crazed Samurai forces launched from my Cruisers to attack two FSA robots and crash them both onto an island, I parked my Battleship way out in the open so the FSA forces could happily hammer the crap out of it (4 hp gone on my BS at the end, several to pesky torpedo bombers, the FSA battleship was untouched, and I miss having Inventive Scientists aboard). I think my biggest mistake was simply not engaging closer and getting stuck in, I was still playing them a bit like a CoA force. I think the Japanese are more of a close/mid range force despite having rockets aboard. Japanese Bombers turned out to be entirely ineffective too.

Could really do with a Squid and an Assault Carrier I think.

Aaron, here's the fleet I was mentioning last night:

http://community.spartangames.co.uk/index.php?/topic/277-coa-boiling-water/

This guy apparently paints every fleet he owns the same way. I can't say I like it (at all), but at least it's original!

Hmmm after some research it seems like most of the Navy boxes are pretty gimpy Smiley. There's better options in every force. The Japanese frigates are definitely less useless than the CoA ones though, I've just read because their P/S FC batteries and 270 turret are both secondary weapons they can be link fired. Duh! That makes them considerably less sucky. The FC stuff is a bitch, but I don't think it's a killer since all the Japanese vessels have the 'Sharp Turn' MAR.

What to buy next eh? HAS to be a Diving Robotic Squid just because that would be stupid fun. But should I just buy one? Since all you buggers have two robots each Smiley

Yeah that paint jobs not really my thing either although it is a nice break from the more traditional painting styles.  Having said that I'm pretty sure you can do a better job than everyone of the colour schemes showing under the EotBS "database" on the forums.

That 'boiling water' style would look pretty good imho, if the guy limited himself to say the engine and generator areas and painted the rest of the vessel reasonably normally? It's just too over the top to do the whole vessel, let alone the whole goddamn fleet that way Smiley.

Yeah, started painting a test frigate last night, as well as trying to knock off the last of my CoA force (2 x Icarus, 3 x Escort and 1 x mutha huge Fleet Carrier). I really should play that Fleet Carrier before I totally discard it too. It has a reasonable compliment of weaponry and can launch waves of TF's. Pity they can't be Torpedo Bombers though Sad.

More DW! More! I think you're right Aaron, I think there's still tons of tactical and strategic depth left in the system we can plumb. I was surprised at how effective a simple boarding action was.
