Malko Falls to the Undead

Right, the second siege of Malko was slightly more successful, although the whole game ended up hinging on a failed dispell on Chaos’ part allowing 9 Zombies to be summoned within the fortress walls (after several turns of attempting to do so). You can just see them celebrating in the centre of the Turn 7 photo from the first series below.

I made two basic and stupid mistakes with this second force. First, they’re more than 12″ away from the General so can’t march – fortunately they had a Necromancer that knew Vanhel’s Danse Macabre with them. Second, those Zombies are more than 12″ away from the General so had to rely on their LD 2 value to do Break Tests each time they lost the combat while assaulting the wall – which goes quite a way towards explaining why they melted away so quickly!

I really have no excuse for these basic errors. I knew the rules in question, I was just half asleep when I deployed.
